Dyrekcja hotelu Kempinski początkowo ignorowała zarzuty, potem jednak przeprosiła i uzupełniła listę numerów telefonicznych o Izrael.
Claude Lanzmann, 90-letni francuski reżyser żydowskiego pochodzenia, odwiedził Berlin i doznał wstrząsu. Opisał to w tekście opublikowanym w czwartek w niemieckim dzienniku „Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”.

A skłoniło go do takiego pytania daremne poszukiwania numeru kierunkowego do Izraela w hotelowym spisie.

Zadzwonił do recepcji. Pracował tam miły człowiek, który sam jest Żydem, i wyjaśnił: – To świadoma decyzja dyrekcji, wobec której jesteśmy bezradni.

Skąd taka decyzja – dopytywał Lanzmann. – Większość naszych gości to Arabowie i to oni zażądali, by usunąć Izrael.

BBC and World Media Ignore Rocket Attacks on Israel, but Report on IDF Responses

BBC and World Media Ignore Rocket Attacks on Israel, but Report on IDF Responses

Hadar Sela

At around 2:30 on the afternoon of August 21, terrorists based in the Gaza Strip fired a missile at the Western Negev town of Sderot.

According to one report, “The rocket landed between two homes, near a college and the local train station. Locals said it was ‘a miracle’ that nobody was injured.”

The IDF responded with strikes on Hamas infrastructure in Beit Hanoun, and later carried out additional strikes.

The BBC News English-language website did not provide any coverage of the missile attack against Israeli civilians.

The BBC Arabic website, however, produced two reports — here and here — about the Israeli response to the missile fire. The second report and the website’s homepage both used a photograph of a water tower allegedly damaged during the Israeli response to the missile attack.

However, as noted at the Israellycool blog, photographs showing the same damage to the same water tower were published by AFP nearly a year ago.

This latest missile attack from the Gaza Strip is the eighth such incident to have taken place so far in 2016. The BBC has not reported on any of those attacks on its English-language website, but has covered the Israeli response to most of them on its Arabic-language site.

January 1: BBC News ignores Gaza missile attacks, BBC Arabic reports Israeli response.

January 24: BBC News ignores Gaza missile attack again — in English.

March 11: BBC News continues to ignore missile attacks on Israelis — in English.

March 15: Missile attack not reported.

May 6: Patchy and selective BBC News reporting of Gaza border incidents.

May 25: BBC News fails to report another Gaza missile attack to English-speakers.

July 1: Another Gaza missile attack ignored by the BBC.

The same pattern of reporting has been evident since the end of the conflict between Israel and terrorists in the Gaza Strip in 2014, meaning that English-speaking BBC audiences — including its funding public — are not receiving the services pledged to them in the corporation’s public purposes.

Israeli scientist may have proved Hawking’s black hole theory

Israeli scientist may have proved Hawking’s black hole theory

40 years after the controversial proposal, Technion researcher’s findings could pave Nobel path for famed physicist

In groundbreaking new research published this week in one of the world’s top science journals, an Israeli physicist may have proved one of Stephen Hawking’s most important predictions about black holes, successfully demonstrating that the mysterious celestial bodies are slowly evaporating.

Professor Jeff Steinhauer of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology Physics has taken a small step and a giant leap toward verifying the “Hawking Radiation” theory, which challenges the conventional understanding that nothing can escape a black hole, according to the study, published in Nature Physics.

The theory, first proposed by Hawking in 1974, suggests that subatomic light particles are sometimes ejected back out of a black hole, taking with them tiny amounts of energy, resulting in a gradual decrease in its mass over time until it evaporates completely.

But more than 40 years later, no one had been able to prove the theory, mainly because light particles from black holes are too small to be detected from Earth.

A supermassive black hole about 70 million times bigger than the earth’s sun, located at the center of spiral galaxy M81. (NASA/CXC/Wisconsin/D.Pooley & CfA/A.Zezas; Optical: NASA/ESA/CfA/A.Zezas; UV: NASA/JPL-Caltech/CfA/J.Huchra et al.; IR: NASA/JPL-Caltech/CfA)

Steinhauer and his team of researchers were last year able to recreate conditions similar to those of a black hole in a lab, using sound waves in order to study how subatomic particles behave on its edge, known as an event horizon.

In his new paper Steinhauer explains that he simulated a black hole event horizon by cooling helium to just above absolute zero (-273.15°C or -59.67°F), and then heating it rapidly to create a barrier impenetrable to sound waves, similar to light from a black hole.

During the experiment, Steinhauer found that tiny particles of energy that formed sound waves did escape his simulated black hole, as Hawking predicted.

Technion physicist Dr. Jeff Steinhauer (Courtesy)“This confirms Hawking’s prediction regarding black hole thermodynamics,” Steinhauer wrote in the introduction to his paper.

The findings were first published in April on the arXiv.org physics site. In order to published in Nature Physics, the research first had to undergo intense peer review, with experts checking if Steinhauer’s observations could be attributed to something else, such as tiny vibrations caused by flaws in the experiment’s design.

According to numerous reports, Steinhauer’s observations on the ground-breaking theory could win Hawking his first Nobel Prize.
Ironically, Hawking supports the academic boycott of Israel, and in 2013 canceled his participation in a Jerusalem conference organized by then-president Shimon Peres.

Plac Grzybowski, plac Żelaznej Bramy, Tłomackie, Rymarska, Przejazd czy Nowolipki – Muzeum POLIN uruchomiło nową aplikację mobilną „Warszawa, Warsze”, będącą rozwinięciem wystawy o tym samym tytule. Umożliwia ona poznanie żydowskiej Warszawy – jej codziennego i klubowego życia. Przy wtórze żydowskich melodii odkrywamy wielowarstwową strukturę Paryża północy, jak określała miasto nad Wisłą jidyszowa piosenka w wykonaniu Oli Lilith – Cederbaum.

Dzięki aplikacji rozpoznajemy we współczesnym mieście obiekty i elementy nieistniejące, poszczególne jego warstwy, dzięki czemu możemy poznać i zrozumieć wielokulturowe oblicze Warszawy.

Plac Za Żelazną Bramą to teren, wokół którego Żydzi mieszkali „z dziada pradziada” kultywując swą odmienność kulturową, etniczną i religijną, przy jednoczesnym świadczeniu usług i handlu pozostałym mieszkańcom Warszawy.

Najbardziej różnorodny teren stanowią ulice dawnej dzielnicy północnej, którą w dużym stopniu ukształtowała ludność napływowa m. in. z carstwa rosyjskiego tzw. litwacy.

Argentine students dress as Nazis, attack Jews

Ynetnews - news and updates 24 hoursArgentine students dress as Nazis, attack Jews

While at a nightclub in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, a group of Jewish students were attacked by students from a German school in Argentina who were wearing painted-on Hitler mustaches and swastikas.

Jewish students from the ORT High School in Buenos Aires, Argentinaת were attacked in a nightclub by other students dressed as Nazis according to Spanish-language media.

The attackers were from a German school in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Lanus, according Argentine news website La Nación.

The attack occurred at the Cerebro de Bariloche night club. One of the mothers of the children who were attacked recounted the episode to Rádio Latina, saying “at a certain point in the night, young people came wearing swastikas and had painted-on Hitler mustaches.”

“My son and his friends complained and asked that they be taken out, but all the club management did was demand that the mustaches be washed off and that the swastikas be removed,” she continued.

“They all ended up fighting, and everyone was kicked out of the club – not just the aggressors,” she said.

The families have condemned the club, saying that the club management should never have let the students dressed as Nazis into the club in the first place.

However, the mother did say that she appreciated that non-Jewish students who were at the club came to the Jewish students’ defense. Gustavo Genusso, manager of the Bariloche club, said to TN News Station that the fight was a “worrying development” and that the students from the German high school were “no longer allowed in the clubs.”

Meanwhile, the head of the Delegation of Argentine Jewish Associations, Ariel Cohen Sabban, said that he would meet with the club’s manager.

“It’s neither a joke nor a grace,” Sabban said. “these symbols reflect an ideology which culminated in the assassination of six million Jews at the hands of the Nazis. If these kids are older than 16, then these kids could be sentenced to between a month to three years in prison for their actions, as this is a crime in Argentina.”

Sabban finished by saying, “we have to be alert because we are beginning new hot beds of anti-Semitism which…But the state’s drive to combat this phenomenon, specifically through education, is very important.”
