Your Excellency,

We, the undersigned, write regarding the public conduct of Vanessa Frazier, the UN Special Representative of the Secretary General for Children and Armed Conflict. Her recent activity on X raises grave concerns about her fitness to hold one of the United Nations’ most sensitive human rights mandates.

On the night of Saturday, June 20, 2026, Ms. Frazier replied approvingly to an X account that had posted an image of the Israeli flag defaced with a swastika, equating the Jewish state with Nazi Germany. She wrote that she “look forward to constructive engagement together we can eliminate this scourge and do justice to all victims and survivors.” For a senior UN official to extend goodwill to an account trafficking in one of the oldest and most dangerous antisemitic libels is indefensible.

This did not occur in a vacuum. It came one day after a tense public confrontation between Ms. Frazier and Israel’s Permanent Representative to the UN at the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, where Ms. Frazier attempted to interrupt the Ambassador’s remarks. That an official entrusted with protecting children in conflict would, within twenty four hours, lend public goodwill to antisemitic imagery speaks to a troubling pattern of judgment.

That pattern became even clearer on June 24, 2026, when an independent UN commission accused the Israeli military of deliberately targeting children in Gaza, claiming this amounted to genocide, and of targeting children in the West Bank, claiming this amounted to war crimes. This is not legitimate criticism of Israeli policy. It is a modern form of blood libel, accusing the Jewish state of intentionally murdering children as a matter of policy. Such an accusation, made under the banner of the United Nations, does not protect children. It demonizes Israel, fuels hatred against Jews worldwide, and gives institutional credibility to one of the most dangerous antisemitic narratives in history.

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese has repeatedly equated Israel with Nazi Germany, rhetoric condemned by numerous governments as antisemitic. When officials holding the UN’s highest mandates lend legitimacy to such themes, they risk normalizing antisemitism within the United Nations itself.

The pattern extends further. UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, Reem Alsalem of Jordan, has publicly claimed there is no evidence of sexual violence by Hamas against Israeli women on October 7 — a statement contradicted by extensive documentation from Israeli forensic teams, international media, and a UN special envoy report. Worse, when confronted during a public event by Ilana Gritzewsky, a survivor of the October 7 attacks, Ms. Alsalem refused to acknowledge.

Ilana Gritzewsky’s story demands to be heard. On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists stormed her home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz and abducted her into Gaza. Her partner, Matan Zangauker, was also taken hostage and remains in captivity. After 54 days in captivity, Ilana was released as part of a hostage deal. When she later stood before Ms. Alsalem, one of the most senior UN officials entrusted with protecting women from violence, and told her what had been done to her, Ms. Alsalem could not bring herself to acknowledge it. She walked away.

The United Nations cannot continue to extend the credibility of its offices to those who amplify hatred against the Jewish people. We call upon you to act without delay:

  • 1 Open a formal, transparent review of Ms. Frazier’s social media conduct, to be concluded promptly.
  • 2 Suspend Ms. Frazier from her duties pending the review’s findings.
  • 3 Apply the same standard to any UN official, including Ms. Albanese, Ms. Alsalem, and members of UN commissions, found to have used their platform to promote antisemitic narratives, Holocaust inversion, or modern blood libels.
  • 4 Adopt binding conduct standards prohibiting senior officials from amplifying disinformation or content from documented purveyors of hate.
  • 5 Issue a clear public statement affirming that the United Nations will not serve as a platform for antisemitism.

The United Nations was founded on the principles of human dignity and equality. When officials holding its highest mandates lend legitimacy to those who compare Israel to Nazi Germany, deny the suffering of Jewish victims, or accuse the Jewish state of deliberately targeting children as policy, they betray those founding principles. The world’s Jewish communities deserve an institution that protects them, not one whose officials amplify hatred against them.
