Arab Youth Admits He Made Up Attack Story

An Arab youth who had reported being attacked by a group of Jews who caused him moderate injuries before fleeing Monday night, admitted to police interrogators that he made up the whole thing and that his injuries were the result of an accidental fall. The young man was taken for treatment at Hadassah Medical Center at Ein Kerem and will be prosecuted for providing false information to police.

“Hate Spaces”: American Colleges and Their Jewish Students

There is a brand-new documentary that focuses on the relationship between American universities and their Jewish students, particularly those who support Israel. The movie is called “Hate Spaces” and that gives you an idea of how those Jewish students are treated.

Of course the name is a play on the current ridiculous yet widespread notion that American college students need “safe spaces” – sometimes equipped with crayons or puppies or soft pillows – from any ideas that might make them even a teensy bit uncomfortable.

This film is a must-see. “Hate Spaces” is so chock-full of important facts, details and examples that it could easily provide the basis for a full semester course, yet it has been masterfully edited down to a mere 110 minutes long.

Another reason why this film is so useful is that it interweaves current examples and interviews with a historic progression of the problem on American campuses.

Writer, producer and director Avi Goldwasser discussed the film with the JewishPress.com on Monday evening. He explained that he and his colleagues at Americans for Peace and Tolerance have “been observing the increased hostility toward Jewish students on campus for the past decade.” Goldwasser and his colleague Charles Jacobs produced the 2004 film “Columbia Unbecoming,” which they thought “would be a wake up call for the Jewish community and the people of New York,” Goldwasser continued.

Although the 2004 film was shocking in terms of how blatant was the animus towards Israel, it did not bring the hoped-for change. Even sadder is that things have only gotten much worse since then.

“Most people do not realize how the hostility is being institutionalized, made fashionable by a combination of forces including radical faculty, radical student organizations, and an enabling university administration. While many anti-Jewish incidents and the BDS campaign are reported by the media, few are willing to connect the dots and report on the underlying ideology and extremist organizations that are inciting the hostility.”

And connect the dots is exactly what “Hate Spaces” does. Awareness slowly dawns on the viewer as what appeared to be merely a series of ugly campus incidents is woven together. That weave reveals the comprehensive pathology undergirding the movement which is ultimately seeking to completely delegitimize Jewish identification with American Jews and the Jewish State, and which gets a pass from most university administrators.

A quote in the film from the Facebook page of Marissa Rubin, a Temple University student, pretty much sums it up: “I am tired of anti-Semitism being a completely normal occurrence, and people standing idly by because, as long as they are only going after Jews, nobody cares.”

“Hate Spaces” very effectively breaks down the issue of gross indifference towards American Jews on campus into manageable segments, such as “Tenured Hatred,” “Intersectionality,” “Privileged Hatred,” and “Failed Leadership.” There is plenty of blame to be apportioned and Goldwasser and his colleagues make strong cases for each portion.

The film also plumbs the progressive elitist drive which is married to the more raw Jew-hatred that melds to marginalize Jews on campuses. It uncovers the funding sources, the historical backgrounds and the interconnectedness of the villains.

Perhaps most pointed is the film’s criticism of the faculty and college administrators who, to be charitable, are manipulated by the dark forces in ways similar – although a billion dollars of donations does thicken the plot – to the impressionable students. The weak-kneed prog-elites are exposed as seeking acceptance and accolades for their progressive values which are completely inverted when it comes to the Jewish minority and the tiny Jewish State.

Many of those who have been diligently slogging away against the world of campus anti-Semitism are used to great effect in “Hate Spaces.” There are informed and enlightening snippets of interviews with such luminaries as the journalists and authors Melanie Phillips and Caroline Glick, along with Cornell University professor and founding blogger at Legal Insurrection William Jacobson, the Wall Street Journal’s Bret Stephens, Alan Dershowitz, the Brandeis Center’s Kenneth Marcus, ZOA’s Sue Tuchman, Jonathan Schanzer, Richard Landes and the ubiquitous Chloé Simone Valdary. Strong, important, concise points are made by each of them.

When he spoke to the Jewish Press, Goldwasser echoed a leitmotif of the film, one pressed especially by Melanie Phillips on camera. Truth has been distorted or even abandoned on college campuses, where “ideology and narrative trump truth.” For that reason Goldwasser is hoping that the film will “energize the public to demand that our leaders in the community and on campus live up to their stated values. What is happening on campus is contrary to American values, to values of decency.”

And every reader of this review will have the chance to be energized. You need to see the film, then you need to act. For those in the New York area, the premiere will take place this Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Symphonyspace.

Izraelsko arabska strona Facebooka Alarab.net zamieściła baner z napisem “nasze domy są otwarte dla wszystkich“

Od kilku dni w Izraelu szaleją pożary, susza i silny wiatr utrudnia akcje ratunkowe. Jak dotąd nie było ofiar śmiertelnych, ale ponad 130 osób wymagało pomocy lekarskiej, według doniesienia z niedzieli wieczorem zniszczonych jest ponad 32 tysiące arów lasów, całkowicie zniszczonych jest 527 domów, 35 osób zostało zatrzymanych pod zarzutem umyślnych podpaleń lub namawiania do takich czynów. W świecie arabskim wydaje się dominować radość, są również reakcje potępienia tej radości i akcje pomocy dla poszkodowanych.

Wyrazy złośliwej satysfakcji z powodu pożarów, twierdzenia, że są one “karą Allaha”

Post na palestyńskiej stronie Facebooka o nazwie “Tutaj Nablus”: “Raduj się, o Inszirah, Izrael płonie, hahaha”, wywołując wyrazy radości i rozbawienia czytelników.

Inny post na tej samej stronie: “Wiatry zrobiły to, czego nie zrobiła islamska ummah w celu obrony swojej religii. Wiatry są żołnierzami Allaha…” Czytelnik napisał w odpowiedzi: “Allah przeklina Żydów, nasz Bóg potrafi ich [pokonać]”.

Palestyńczyk, nazywający siebie “Szam’at Tafaul” (“Świeca optymizmu”), napisał: “Niechaj Allah pali Żydów i chroni arabskich muzułmanów i chrześcijan w Izraelu”.

Palestyńczyk napisał na związanej z Hamasem stronie Facebooka, “Palestyna teraz”: “Wspólna modlitwa: O Allahu, prosimy cię pozwól pożarom szaleć tak jak płynęły muzułmańskie łzy Palestyńczyków i tak jak każda kropla czystej krwi była rozlana w okrucieństwie i agresji, i jak przystoi honorowi meczetów i Koranu, które bezczeszczą złoczyńcy. Allahu, nie miej nad nimi litości, tak jak oni nie mają litości nad naszymi palestyńskimi braćmi. Amen! Pokaż im piekło na tym świecie, o wielki i mściwy Boże. Amen!”

Anonimowa odpowiedź na post na stronie Facebooka, “Oczy na Hajfę”, stwierdzała, że pożary były karą Allaha za ustawę o muezzinach [Projekt ustawy zakazującej używanie silnego nagłośnienia przy wzywaniu do modlitwy o 4 nad ranem. Ustawa nie przewiduje ograniczeń do pozostałych wezwań cztery razy dziennie. przyp. red.]: “To jest osiedle izraelskie w ogniu. To bardzo dobrze, zasłużyli na to. To jest kara Allaha za zakazanie wezwań do modłów …”

Post na stronie Facebooka palestyńskiego Szu’afat Al-Kuds stwierdza, że Izrael kłamie, kiedy mówi, że znaleziono dowody podpaleń przez Palestyńczyków: “Władze okupacyjne twierdzą, że znalazły samochód pełen benzyny w jednym z lasów w pobliżu osiedla żydowskiego i że Palestyńczycy umieścili go tam w celu podpalenia lasu. Powtarzali to kłamstwo aż w nie uwierzyli”. Czytelnik napisał w odpowiedzi: „Kłamcy! To tak samo, jak kiedy umieszczali noże w samochodach Palestyńczyków, żeby fałszywie oskarżyć ich o planowanie zamachów nożowych”.

Reakcja na innej stronie Facebook była stwierdzeniem, że pożary są izraelską próbą podżegania przeciwko Arabom izraelskim: “Jestem niemal przekonany, że wszystkie te pożary zostały umyślnie podłożone przez Izrael. Moim zdaniem – a mam nadzieję, że się mylę – jest to jeden z kroków w planie podżegania przeciwko Arabom izraelskim. Już zaczęli nazywać to intifadą. Nie wierzę w przypadki, tutaj jest jakaś sztuczka”.

Wyrazy złośliwej satysfakcji ze świata arabskiego

Wyrazy radości z powodu pożarów pojawiły się także w całym świecie arabskim. W poście na stronie Facebooka duchowny saudyjski, dr Salman Al-‘Odeh życzył Izraelowi “straszliwych męczarni piekielnych”.

Poeta egipski, Amir Teima tweetował pod hashtagiem “Izrael płonie”: “Macie prawo uważać, że radowanie się z powodu pożarów w Izraelu jest nieludzkie, a ja mam prawo mieć nadzieję, że ogień zniszczy wszystko, co na jego drodze”.

Egipski ruch Ghalaba, który sprzeciwia się reżimowi Sisiego, zamieścił na stronie Facebooka, co następuje: “Allahu, zalej ich swoim gniewem, tak jak oni palili nasze dzieci w Gazie… i uczyń, by płomienie sięgnęły wszystkich zdradzieckich przywódców arabskich, którzy zawarli z nimi sojusz”.

Szejk Maszari Raszed Al-‘Afasi, imam Wielkiego Meczetu w mieście Kuwejt i kaznodzieja ministerstwa dziedzictwa religijnego, powiązał pożary z ustawą o muezzinach. Tweetował: „Izrael plonie. Traci kontrolę i prosi o pomoc sojuszników po tym, jak zakazał wezwań do modlitw w okupowanej Jerozolimie i w naszych ukradzionych miejscach świętych”.

Pod hasztagiem “Izrael płonie” użytkownik Facebooka, Ahmad Al-Naszar, zamieścił zdjęcie Hitlera z napisem: “Tak, to przywołuje pewne wspomnienia. Umierajcie powoli, Żydzi, umierajcie powoli”.

Arabowie izraelscy potępiają wyrazy złośliwej satysfakcji z powodu pożarów, wzywają do pomagania Izraelczykom ewakuowanym z ich domów

Post na arabsko-izraelskiej stronie Facebooka @we7di.48 wskazywał, że pożary zagrażają także arabskim miastom i wsiom: “Ogień doszedł do Baka Al-Gharbijja, Dzabel Al-Kafza w Nazarecie, [okolicy] Iksal i arabskiej wsi Nahaf. Niszczy wszystko i ewakuuje się ludzi z ich domów. Doszedł też do lasów Tamra i Kabul, Barta’a w Dżeninie, Deir Szaraf w Nablusie, Dżibia w Ramallah,i doszedł do Tulkarm i Kalkilja!! Z czego się tak cieszycie? O ogniu, zmień się w grad; mam nadzieję, że nasi ludzie wyjdą z tego bezpieczni i cali”.

Inny post na tej stronie krytykował doniesienia i reakcje ze świata muzułmańskiego: “…Izrael płonie w kilka dni po debacie o ustawie o muezzinach i radość przepełnia kraje muzułmańskie. Allah akbar. Ale to płoną drzewa, góry i równiny – a mianowicie, ojczyzna. Dlatego nie rozumiem poczucia triumfu u ludzi. Czy staliśmy się tak słabi, że radujemy się ze spalenia drzewa? Wszystko, co dzieje się, to, że nie ma deszczu i silne wiatry podsycają płomienie. Zatrzymajcie wasze fałszywe poczucie zwycięstwa dla siebie. Mam nadzieję, że kiedyś pokonamy własną ignorancję”.

Post na stronie Facebooka “Tutaj Nazaret”, autor błaga Allaha, by zaopiekował się drzewami, domami, lasami i ludźmi.

Izraelsko arabska strona Facebooka Alarab.net zamieściła baner z napisem “Nasze domy są otwarte dla wszystkich” i wezwała Arabów w Galilei i okręgu “Trójkąta”: “Otwórzmy nasze domy dla wszystkich mieszkańców Hajfy, Żydów i Arabów, których domy zostały zniszczone przez pożary i którzy opuścili swoje domy z obawy, że płomienie mogą do nich dotrzeć”.

Kilku arabskich burmistrzów i przewodniczących rad lokalnych wyraziło żal z powodu szkód wyrządzonych przez ogień i zaoferowało gościnę rodzinom, zarówno żydowskim, jak arabskim, które zostały ewakuowane. Strony Facebooka “Tutaj Nazaret” i @we7di.48 cytowały burmistrza Nazaretu, Alego Salema, który określił wydarzenia jako “bardzo zasmucające” i ogłosił: “Nazaret, jego obiekty i jego hotele stoją otwarte dla obywateli, którzy doznali szkód od pożarów, zarówno dla Arabów, jak i Żydów”. Dodał: “Wszyscy jesteśmy ludźmi, niezależnie od naszej religii. Wszyscy żyjemy w tym samym kraju i musimy być braćmi zarówno w czasach potrzeby, jak w czasach szczęścia”.

Władze miejskie Baka Al-Gharbija także oferowały pomoc dla mieszkańców Hajfy i gościnę dla nich w mieście.

Strona Facebooka @we7di.48 cytowała burmistrza Kafar Kassem i burmistrza Rahat, oraz władz miejskich Kafara Bara, oferujących pomoc i gościnę ewakuowanym rodzinom. Strona Facebooka Ruchu Islamskiego – Gałęzi Południowej, cytowała przewodniczącego ruchu, Mansoura Kamala, który powiedział, że dziesiątki rodzin arabskich są gotowe na goszczenie każdej rodziny dotkniętej pożarami, niezależnie od tego, czy są Żydami, czy Arabami.

Także wielu Arabów izraelskich oferowało się gościć rodziny zmuszone do opuszczenia swoich domów z powodu pożarów.

Sweden’s responsibility to stop extremism at UNRWA schools

I myself have vetted the Facebook pages of Palestinian schools and I am shocked by the violent extremism that is part of the education reflected in Facebook posts.

According to a new study from the Center for Near East Policy Research (CFNEPR), 240 textbooks used in the Palestinian refugee camps contain the message of violent extremism. The textbooks have been used in the UN agency UNRWA’s school curriculum. Sweden as one of UNRWA’s major financiers, contributing over 35 million US dollars a year to the organization , has a great responsibility to stop the extremism.

I myself have vetted the Facebook pages of Palestinian schools and I am shocked by the violent extremism that is part of the education reflected in Facebook posts. On a Syrian UNRWA school’s Facebook page, I have found drawings that children have posted on the wall of their classroom. One shows a masked person who is shooting with a rifle. “We shall liberate the country with our guns and our blood,” it says in Arabic text within the drawing. Another drawing shows a bloody sword called “The Sword of Righteousness.” The same drawing also depicts a Star of David crushed by a map of Israel, painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag. The text within the drawing states, “We shall conquer it, we return to victory.”

The drawings clearly reflect what is taught in UNRWA schools. According to the Israeli institute CFNEPR’s documentation, the following elements are constants in UNRWA’s teaching: The denial of Jewish holy sites and Jews’ legitimate presence in the Holy Land, violent struggle and demonization of Jews and the State of Israel.

In other words, it is the terrorist organization Hamas and the Palestinian Authority’s extreme ideology that is being taught in UNRWA classrooms.

We must all understand that exposing a child
to an education that promotes violence

The Palestinian children are brainwashed to value death more than life and hate more than love at the Swedish funded schools.

It is obvious that not only Jews are the victims of this abusive, extremist ideology taught at UNRWA schools.

We must all understand that exposing a child to an education that promotes violence constitutes a mental assault on the child.

The UNRWA schools not only embrace the ideology of terror organizations, they also have close connections with such organizations. In social media, UNRWA schools document the pupils’ meetings with terrorist networks. Hamas also brags that several of its “martyred” terrorists have an UNRWA education. Education in UN schools should lead to the shaping of peaceful and democratic individuals but UNRWA schools serve as recruitment centers for terrorist organizations, my observations as well as CFNEPR’s research reveal.

But it is not yet too late to save coming generations of Palestinian children from violent extremism.

Recently, CFNEPR’s director David Bedein visited the Swedish parliament. He spoke to Swedish lawmakers about the extremist elements of UNRWA textbooks and the violent attitudes that Palestinian children in UNRWA schools express.

Now that our parliamentarians are aware of the extremism in UNRWA schools, they must make every effort to make sure that it ceases and that this blatant abuse of children discontinues .

Sweden being the sixth largest donor to UNRWA has a unique opportunity and an important responsibility to influence the organization; to change the teaching from promoting violence to promoting peace. Sweden must also make sure that there is zero tolerance of violent extremism in all of the education that Sweden, the EU and the UN support financially.

Ultimately it is about treating all children equally. What we do not want Swedish children to be exposed to, we should not tolerate that Palestinian children are exposed to through Swedish funding. When violent extremism is not present in the education, a real peace process can start and a hopeful future for the Palestinian children.
