Daniela Passenta lubię i szanuję, co oznacza, że niezależnie o czym pisze, czytam, żeby wiedzieć, co sądzi. Jeden z niedawno czytanych jego tekstów traktował o Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich. Mało tego, że nie ma takiego muzeum, które mogłoby pomieścić tę historię, ale uczciwie mówiąc mam alergię na muzea i pomniki. (Oczywiście nie na wszystkie muzea i nie na wszystkie pomniki.)

Chwilami mam wrażenie, że wciskanie historii w kamień jest doskonałym sposobem na usprawiedliwienie braku odwagi spojrzenia na rzeczywistość i dostrzeżenia, że wczorajsze upiory wracają ze zdwojoną mocą.

Spędziłem prawie trzydzieści lat na Zachodzie i po powrocie do Polski osiadłem w maleńkim miasteczku, które jest bardzo osobliwym Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich. Dobrzyń nad Wisłą, miasto do którego, jak uczono nas w szkole, Konrad Mazowiecki sprowadził Krzyżaków, żeby pomogli bronić granic chrześcijaństwa przed ciągłymi atakami pogańskich Prusów i Litwinów. Dziś Dobrzyń jest muzeum milczenia, nie jedynym, jednym z tysięcy.

Jak się wydaje, wszystko wyglądało nieco inaczej, Dobrzyń został podarowany przez Konrada Zakonowi Braci Dobrzyńskich, którzy nie radzili sobie z jego obroną i ówczesny Mistrz Zakonu Krzyżackiego zaproponował im połączenie się. W efekcie Krzyżacy uznali, że wraz z Zakonem Braci Dobrzyńskich nabyli prawa do miasta, zaś Konrad Mazowiecki był zdania, że skoro Zakon Braci Dobrzyńskich przestał być jednostką samodzielną, darowizna traci moc i 19 października 1235 roku, decyzją papieża, Dobrzyń powrócił pod władzę mazowieckiego księcia. Jest to o tyle istotne, że od tamtej pory Dobrzyń jest silnie obecny w świadomości historyków i polityków niemieckich, nie tylko z powodu tamtego incydentu, ale i późniejszych losów miasta, które wielokrotnie przechodziło z rąk do rąk.

Dobrzyń był tak silnie obecny w niemieckiej świadomości, że długo przed 1 września 1939 roku gotowe były plany utworzenia z niego dużego miasta garnizonowego.

W doskonale udokumentowanej pracy licencjackiej z 2013 roku, Agnieszka Witkowska pisze:

„Na początku września 1939 roku do Dobrzynia wkroczyły oddziały armii niemieckiej.

Jeszcze w tym miesiącu ludność żydowska otrzymała nakaz opuszczenia miasta. Prawdopodobnie wysiedlono ją gromadami do Kutna, Włocławka i Żychlina, umieszczając w tamtejszych gettach. Według M. Krajewskiego pewna grupa ludności żydowskiej z Dobrzynia trafiła do bydgoskich koszar 15 PAL, a następnie została rozstrzelana w Tryszczynie lub w Rynkowie, niedaleko Bydgoszczy.

Według relacji mieszkańców Dobrzynia, Niemcy zachowywali się niezwykle brutalnie w stosunku do ludności żydowskiej. Wiadomo, iż nad Wisłą hitlerowcy rozstrzelali grupę Żydów – ich ciała wrzucono do rzeki. Prawdopodobnie Niemcy zamordowali także kilkoro Żydów, siłą zmuszonych do rozbiórki synagogi.

Dnia 24 września oddziały niemieckie podpaliły dobrzyńską bóżnicę i beit midrasz, spłonął także sztybel chasydów z Gur. Ludność żydowska została wypędzona z miasta w pierwszych dniach października 1939 roku, jako ostatni opuścił Dobrzyń rabin Josek Wolf Sender.”

Tak zakończyła się historia dobrzyńskiej gminy żydowskiej, której początki sięgały osadnictwa żydowskiego w XIV wieku i o której były zapisy w dokumentach historycznych od początku XVI wieku.

NATO: Rosyjskie samoloty to coraz większe zagrożenie

Ponad 100 razy lotnictwo NATO przechwyciło nad krajami bałtyckimi rosyjskie samoloty wojskowe – poinformował szef NATO Jens Stoltenberg.

W przestrzeni Unii Europejskiej samoloty NATO przechwyciły w tym roku 400 rosyjskich maszyn. – To o 50 proc. więcej niż w roku ubiegłym – powiedział sekretarz generalny NATO w estońskiej bazie sił lotniczych Amari. Stoltenberg nie wyjaśnił jednak, czy 100 samolotów przechwyconych nad krajami bałtyckimi należało do Rosji.

Przechwycenie samolotu polega na tym, że maszyny NATO wylatują mu naprzeciw i eskortują go tak długo, aż oddali się na bezpieczną odległość – wyjaśnia AFP.

Stoltenberg rozpoczął w czwartek od Estonii podróż po krajach bałtyckich, której celem jest zapewnienie ich o poparciu NATO – komentuje AFP.

Szef NATO wyjaśnił, że przeloty rosyjskich maszyn są niebezpieczne nie tylko dlatego, że zbliżają się one do przestrzeni powietrznej krajów sojuszniczych, ale też ze względu na to, w jaki sposób latają te samoloty: nie przekazują one swoich planów lotu ani nie nawiązują kontaktu radiowego z cywilną kontrolą ruchu powietrznego, co stanowi potencjalne zagrożenie dla cywilnej komunikacji lotniczej.

Reuters wyjaśnia też, że rosyjskie samoloty mają podczas lotu wyłączone transpondery. Są to urządzenia komunikacyjne, które umożliwiają lokalizację oraz identyfikację maszyn i używane są w systemach zarządzania ruchem lotniczym.

Stoltenberg dodał, że NATO “musi pozostać czujne” ze względu na zwiększoną aktywność sił zbrojnych Rosji w rejonie Morza Bałtyckiego, Norweskiego i Czarnego.

W tym działaniu “jest metoda, która powinna nam przypomnieć sposób postępowania (Rosjan) w latach zimnej wojny” – dodał.

Podczas wspólnej konferencji prasowej z premierem Estonii Taavim Roivasem Stoltenberg powiedział, że NATO “jest gotowe, by zareagować (na akcje Rosjan), kiedy będzie to potrzebne”.

Na początku listopada naczelny dowódca sił NATO w Europie, amerykański generał Philip Breedlove mówił o przelotach rosyjskich samolotów wojskowych przez europejską przestrzeń powietrzną, które miały miejsce kilka dni wcześniej; brały w nich udział większe ich formacje, używające bardziej “prowokacyjnych” niż zwykle tras.

NATO informuje, że ostatnio wielokrotnie podrywa swe samoloty, by zidentyfikować “nieznane lub potencjalnie wrogie samoloty” zbliżające się do przestrzeni powietrznej krajów europejskich – przypomina Reuters.

Antisemitic incitement by Turkish government officials, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s oft-repeated statements that Israel is more barbaric than Hitler, and antisemitic accusations and threats by the media that support and promote Turkey’s AKP ruling party have fostered an upsurge in antisemitism in the country. A recent survey by Gonzo Insight, the Turkish polling institute, found that in just 24 hours, on July 17-18, 2014, 27,309 Turkish Twitter users sent 30,926 Turkish-language tweets in support of Hitler’s genocide against the Jews.[1]
In addition to statements by government officials, the pro-AKP media regularly accuse Turkey’s Jews of “treason,”[2] and other accusations are also levelled, including connecting Jews with the use of Ebola as a biological weapon in “global occupation” that “knows no borders”; in addition, a professor tweeted about sending Jews to Treblinka.

Antisemitism is an accepted part of the government discourse; for example, in protests following the May 2014 mine collapse in Soma, in which over 300 miners died, then-prime minister Erdogan yelled at and scuffled with a miner, calling him “sperm of Israel.”

At the same time that President Erdogan was denying, in his September 22, 2014 speech at the Council of Foreign Relations, that he or his government were in any way antisemitic, members of his party back home were tweeting praise for Hitler, and shops in Istanbul were displaying signs reading “No Admittance To Jewish Dogs.”

On November 9, 2014, a sign reading “This Location To Be Demolished” was hung on the entrance to Istanbul’s Neveh Shalom Synagogue; the synagogue has already been the target of two major terrorist attacks in which many congregants at prayer were killed and wounded.

Turkish Islamist Columnist: “It Is An Instinct Of The Jew To Do Evil To Men And To Humanity”; “There Is No Life That The Poisonous Hand Of The Jew Doesn’t Touch, No Society To Which The Jew Does Not Bring Decay”

Islamist columnist Ibrahim Tenekeci of the pro-AKP daily Yeni Safak wrote in a July 23, 2014 column titled “Of Men and Jews” (in which he refused to capitalize the term “Jew” except where he quotes another author):[3] “This title, reminiscent of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, belongs to [Islamist author] Nurettin Topcu, not me. Topcu wrote three articles in 1967: ‘The Islamic Cause and Judaism,’ ‘Money and the Jew,’ and ‘Of Men and Jews.’ These articles define jews as the eternal curse of mankind. ‘Those that attack to destroy the building of absolute truth,’ ‘those who reject all moral values,’ ‘the bloody and sinful hands,’ ‘the evil that replaces the good’ – All these are the jews.

“Now let’s read a few sentences from these three articles:

“‘Men and Jews’: ‘This is the tribe that has no conscience or remorse, does every cruelty to mankind in both the material world and the realm of spirituality and thought.’ ‘The Jewish tribe has been sent to the world in order to destroy every good thing, every strong foundation, and all liberating truths.’ ‘It is an instinct of the Jew to do evil to men and to humanity.’ ‘The Jew cannot live without evil and troublemaking.’

“‘Money and the Jew’: ‘No doubt, Allah has created the Jewish tribe as the curse to mankind.’ ‘There is no life that the poisonous hand of the Jew does not touch, no society to which the Jew does not bring decay.’

“‘The Islamic Cause and Judaism’: ‘We must search for the remedy to Jewish disasters in the very soul of Islam.’ ‘As long as there is an Israel, the Islamic and Turkish worlds are in danger. The future belongs either to one or to the other.’

“Some say that the Zionists and the jews are not one and the same. Let’s look: Who is it that commits massacres and shameful deeds? The Zionists. Who are they? Are they Muslims or Christians? No, [they are] jews. Therefore, we know who the murderers of humanity are.

“Who says ‘take two lives with one bullet’ to incite the murder of pregnant women?… Who is it who lacks all human values? Quick answer: The jews…

“Let’s take a few more quotes from Nurettin Topcu’s [book] Money and the Jews: ‘There are two enemies of humanity, two Satans: Money and the Jew. The Jew idolizes money, and money idolizes the Jew. If there were no Jew, money would not have an owner.’ ‘Money and Jew live in symbiosis… The fight against the imperialism that is ruled by the Jews is the fight for freedom.’

“Yes, money is the jew’s weak point. Imposing economic embargos, stopping the purchase and sale of their goods, and cancelling all trade treaties [with Jews] will prove a more useful method [than any other of fighting them]. This will hurt them, and even if it does not, we will have done something [against them]… We are obliged to protest against their cruelty. Our nation’s destiny is to stand with the victim.”

PA Will Stand Trial in New York for Terrorism

Shurat Hadin wins major decision as court date set in $1 billion lawsuit against PA and PLO for committing and supporting terrorist attacks.

Shurat Hadin (Israel Law Center) on Thursday won a major decision in their landmark case against the Palestinian Authority (PA), achieving a court date in a $1 billion case exposing PA and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) culpability in numerous terror attacks.

The Israeli-based civil rights organization sued the PA on behalf of 11 families for involvement of PA and PLO members in seven terror attacks between 2001 and 2004 during the Second Intifada.

Now a trial will be held in New York in January, allowing the lawsuit originally brought in 2004 to be heard in court after the defendants’ request to dismiss the trial was overruled.

“For years the PA provided funding and every measure of support for the murderous terrorist operations in Israel that devastated the country and left so many civilians dead,” said Shurat Hadin director Attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner.

Darshan-Leitner added “the decision and trial will provide an unprecedented opportunity to present to a New York jury all that the evidence that has been amassed documenting the Palestinians use of terrorism as an official policy to advance their goals.”

In setting the court date, the US District Court in New York found there was sufficient evidence to present to a jury that the PA and PLO had provided material support for seven attacks that killed American citizens, and that the PA could be tried for being “vicariously liable” on six of the seven attacks.

The decision found there was enough evidence to rule that PA employees conducted terrorist attacks against civilians in Israel, and that the PA and PLO provided weapons, money and other material support in violation of the Anti-Terror laws.

Additionally, the court found the jury could rule that the PA provided safe haven to the terrorists, and gave material support to the terrorist organizations Hamas and Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, the “military wing” of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction.

Shurat Hadin has been actively pursuing the PA in international courts, recently filing a war crimes complaint in the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Abbas.

It is hoped that the hearings in January will allow further recourse against Arab terrorism, as was achieved in a recent ruling finding the Arab Bank guilty of funding Hamas attacks. Arab Bank has submitted for a retrial on the ruling.
